The transport system for a fabric or leather section (K) worktable (10) is a linked chain (13) with a number of interconnected chain links (20). The chain links (20) have zones where the link materials are part of the laying surface (19) with an under pressure unit (12) and flow passage openings. The chain links (20) have a material zone carried by a base, with stiffening ribs on the other side, aligned in the direction of link chain (13) movement. The stiffening ribs define air channels with a base and hinge eyes (26). The air channels defined by the stiffening ribs and the chain link structure run longitudinally and laterally. At least one lateral sealing rib is at the outer edge zones of the outermost chain link (20). Each link (20) is attached to its neighbor, with a swing movement along the longitudinal movement line. Link hinge eyes (26) are in one piece and are locked to the link material with the base at the longitudinal sides flush with the hinge eyes (26), to take the inserted hinge bolt (38). The chain links (20) are of injection molded plastics. The flow passage openings expand conically to the laying surface (19). The link chains (13) are in different contrast colors, for at least two chains with their links (20) in adjacent longitudinal zones. At least one toothed drive wheel moves the link chains (13), where the teeth engage the air channels in a positive fit in the links (20). The chains (13) slide over a sealing component (32) at the underpressure unit (12).
