Stereoscopic display system for displaying 3-D image from 2-D image

The system includes first and second optical lens systems (11,13) which generate first and second images of an object, respectively. A recording unit (2) generates electrical signals corresponding to the images. A signal processing unit (4) generates first and second image signals (l,R) corresponding to the first and the second images respectively. A single image signal is formed by joining the image signals. A display unit (5) displays an output image corresponding to the single image signal. An optical lens (6) displays the output image as a 3-D image. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a stereoscopic display with a fixed optical lens system forming two images from an object; (2) a stereoscopic display with at least a light source and objective lens and eyepiece lens systems; (3) a stereoscopic display with a memory for storing single image signals and a mixer for the image signal.
