Appts. for applying magnetic force to crystal-forming reagents in aq. solns. is claimed. The appts. comprises a pressure-tight case (1) with openings (12, 13) at both ends through which liq. flows, and in which there is at least 1 (pref. 2) parallel, pref. linear channel with narrow slits, pref. lying parallel to the length axis (A-b) of the casing. The channel is formed by two parallel stacks of plates (4) between spacers (8), contg. square permanent magnet plates (3) magnetised in a direction perpendicular to the direction of liq. flow (14). These plates are loosely held together along their narrow length surfaces by magnetic forces and joints (5) orthogonal to the (A-B) axis are also present between adjacent plates.
