An underfloor central heating system consists of a soft heat- insulating substrate on which is laid a flexible hot water hose (10) having longitudinal outer ridges (14). The hose is secured to the floor by U-shaped clips (16) with barbed holding points which are pushed into the soft floor. Each clip has an inner profile which matches that of the hose.
