Up until now, in the case of joint seals on prefabricated shaped concrete parts, in particular concrete pipes which do not have sockets, an end-side groove has been lined with a soft/resilient material into which there was inserted a sealing band which is provided with lips and spans the gap. A seal of this type was not capable of allowing for transverse or longitudinal movements of the two abutting pipes. In order to remedy this, a sealing element (7) formed from two sealing strips (8, 9) is inserted in the border region of the groove (4), between which strips there is retained, with corresponding pressing, a connecting element (10) which is in the form of a web and is rigid in the longitudinal and transverse directions. The connecting element (10) spans the gap. Since the groove (4) may be considerably deeper than the width of the sealing element (7), large longitudinal movements are possible without influencing the seal. A step-shaped extension (5) on the groove wall ensures that, in the event of transverse movements of the two neighbouring pipes, the sealing strips (8, 9) are not over-pressed by the connecting element (10).
