The drives for the movement units have asynchronous three-phase motors (12), and the movement units (6) of the associated direction tracks (4) are rigidly connected to the motors. The computer (11) of the control unit converts speed values of individual waggons or waggon groups into reference values for the torque. These drive the movement units, to move waggons or groups of waggons in accordance with a set reference speed. The reference values for the torque are supplied via a frequency converter (14) to the three-phase motor (12) of the movement unit in the direction track, into which the waggon or group moves.
