The closing cylinder has pairs of locking pins (6) and counter pins (7). The opposing locking pins of the first pair and second pair interengage positively with their outer ends in the locked state so that a tool inserted in the key channel of the cylinder and whose front end is on the centre plane in the inserted state strikes against one of the locking pins without the locking pins being able to press apart so that no direct access is provided through the key channel in the insert direction. There are preferably several pairs of locking pins and counter pins. Each pair is spring loaded by a tumbler spring (11) and the tumbler springs opposing one another and/or behind one another have different spring characteristics.
