PURPOSE: To provide the printing system which can automate a print processing, improve the work efficiency of a printer and reduce the burden on an operator. ;CONSTITUTION: When the automatic setting mode of a printer driver is set (S10:Yes), a collation signal is transmitted (S11) from a computer to the printer, when interpreter kind data are received (S13:Yes) from the printer within prescribed time, the printer driver applicable to a printing control language interpreter provided at the printer is retrieved (S16) from a hard disk based on these data and when there are more than one printer drivers, the optimum printer driver is decided and stored in a RAM 50 based on a priority order set in advance.
