PURPOSE: To enable a thermal transfer recording medium to be used repetitively many times by a method wherein a dye is continuously supplied to the thermal transfer recording medium from an outside when thermal transfer recording using a diffusive dye is carried out. ;CONSTITUTION: In a thermal transfer recorder for forming an image by transferring a dye of a thermal transfer recording medium 1 to a material to be transferred 10 by selectively heating with a thermal transfer recording heating means 6 after superimposing the thermal transfer recording medium 1 having a color material layer 2 containing a diffusive dye on the material to be transferred 10, a dye supplying material consisting of the diffusive dye of a higher density by being compared with that of the thermal transfer recording medium 1 and a heating means for replenishing dye 7 for diffusing the dye to the thermal transfer recording medium 1 from the dye supplying material, are provided.
