PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithographic printing plate which decreases the number of copies which need to be discarded at the time of start of printing. SOLUTION: This lithographic printing plate precursor has the flexible base, having a surface dividable to ink receptive and ink repulse regions at the time of imagewise exposure and, in some cases, a development state. The flexible base is a polyester film having 0.075 to 0.35mm thickness and contg. at least 75wt.% polyethylene naphthalene dicarboxylate. This process for producing the lithographic printing plate includes stages for exposing the lithographic printing plate precursor imagewise and in some cases developing the resulting lithographic printing plate precursor exposed imagewise.
