P The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a high carbon cast iron alloy containing alloyed niobium and suitable auxiliary alloying means. According to this process for manufacturing a high carbon cast iron alloy, containing d other usual alloy metals for cast iron as well as at least approximately 0.12% by weight of niobium, for cast iron parts having a high wear resistance and a high thermal conductivity, niobium is introduced into the melt as FeNb or as a pre-alloy of niobium in the form of granules in the form of a filling wire (3) by means of intensive recirculation of the melt (2). Application in particular to the manufacture of brake linings for commercial vehicles. /P
