A medical gas such as oxygen is supplied at a high pressure through a primary system (1') and then passes through throttle valves (14,14') to a secondary system (2,2') and to points of utilisation (3a,3b). A standby supply may be provided for a point of utilisation (3a) which requires it from a bottle of the same gas (6) which is connected (5) to the feeding system (2) through a non return valve (7) operated by pressure difference. A low pressure alarm (8) may be fitted to the primary and secondary distribution systems (1',2,2') and a low level alarm (9) to the gas bottle (6). Pressures and levels may be shown on a visual display unit (10).
