The programming device includes an electrically driven pointer arrangement, revolving in both directions and stored concentrically to a dial. The pointer arrangement includes an electronic control for providing control pulses equipped with a program information.The pointer arrangement is driven continuously or in intermittent steps in both rotation directions, and includes an electro-mechanic or electronic pulse generator (5) which subdivides the individual drive steps of the pointer arrangement (3) corresponding to certain time- or temperature sections on the scale (29) of the dial (2), into time pulses.
