Time channel locating system for mobile radio stations within local area network

The system uses a reference table indicating channel status, avoiding need for polling to determine free channels. The procedure for searching for free time-channels concerns a local cellular radio transmission system in which mobile terminals (TB, TD) move across cells (1,2). Each terminal within a cell communicates with an access point (PA., PC) within the relevant cell by use of a time channel. When there are collisions between the time channels of neighbouring cells (1,2) reference is made to a table showing the occupation state of the channels, and a free channel is chosen from this table. The updating of this table is carried out regularly by the access points (PA, PC) during monitoring phases, and by the channel status information transmitted by the terminals in communication with the access points (PA, PC).
