New 1-phospha-norbornadiene derivatives useful for preparing bis-phosphine ligands for asymmetric synthesis catalysts

1-Phosphanorbornadienes (I) are new. 1-Phosphanorbornadienes of formula (I) are new: Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) compounds of formula (II; Q = Sn(A)3); (b) compounds of formula (II; Q = X) where n = 1 and where X is not 2,2-dibromoethenyl when R1 = H, R2 and R3 = Me, R4 and R5 = phenyl and Y = O; (c) compounds of formula (II; Q = I) where n = 1; and (d) compounds of formula (II; Q = Li) where Y = S and n = 1.
