The invention relates to a process for the determination of the electrochemical behavior of an electrode material. This method consists in measuring by voltammetry in a saline solution, the intensity (i) of the electric current circulating between the tested electrode and a counter - electrode as a function of a potential difference between the tested electrode and a reference electrode, this potential difference varies according to a periodic scan over a range of values sufficient to generate, at the ends of this range, of the currents (ifa, ifc) to a variation not linear as a function of the potential applied, and to determine a range of values of voltage admissible (deltaei = eia - e 1 c) for the ohmic heating, in which the current varies linearly as a function of the potential and the - beyond which the energy threshold for triggering of the electrochemical reactions is crossed. The present invention also relates to a method and a device for measuring the potential drop interfacial tension electrode - solution in the conditions of the ohmic heating.
