Telecommunication transmission over electricity networks

An electricity distribution and/or power transmission network has one or more nodes whereat connection is made between sections of the network. At each node, input and output circuits including an add/drop multiplexer ADM and preferably including modems couple telecommunications signals to or from the network. When signal coupling is not required, sections may be coupled to each other via modems. As shown, various sections may operate at different levels of electricity supply and adjacent sections may have signals at different carrier frequencies supplied to or from them. The modem and/or the add drop multiplexer may include signal regenerators. Further modems may regenerate and connect communications signals on to a low voltage distribution cable and to individual customer premises.
