Optical articles and devices with a thin film containing krypton, xenon, or radon atoms

An optical article includes an optical thin film laminated on a surface of a substrate. The optical thin film includes atoms of at least one selected from the group consisting of krypton, xenon and radon. The optical thin film is a film of oxides or fluorides and the content of the atoms is within 0.5 atomic ppm to 1 atomic %.
