PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dynamically perform the alternate sector processing of duplexed magnetic disks. SOLUTION: This system is equipped with an error sector check means 500 which detects an I/O error when data read/write on a magnetic disk device is performed, an error sector managing table 200 which stores detected error information, an alternate sector generating means 600 which generates the alternate sector of an error sector based on the error information stored in the error sector managing table 200, an input/output means 700 which writes the alternate sector generated by the alternate sector generating means 600 on the magnetic disk devices 300, 400, and an alternate sector I/O means 800. Also, the error sector managing table 200 stores the device number of the magnetic disk device in which an error occurs and the error information to manage the sector number and sector state of the device. In this way, it is possible to shorten release time when the I/O error occurs, and also, to improve reliability for the system.
