PURPOSE: To provide a bisazo compd. which is useful as a coloring dye for inks and possesses good resistance, can provide a print having high glossiness in the case of printing on flat paper, has excellent deep black, and is useful for ink jet printing. ;CONSTITUTION: This bisazo compd. is a compd. in a free acid form represented by formula (wherein B represents 3,4- or 3,5-dicarboxyphenyl), e.g. a sodium salt of 1-hydroxy-2-(4-[3,5-dicarboxyphenylazo]-naphtho-1-ylazo)-3,6-disulfo-7- aminonaphthalene. The compound of the formula may be obtd., e.g. by diazotizing 3,4- or 3,5-dicarboxyaniline, conducting coupling with α-naphthylamine to obtain a monoazo compd., diazotizing the monoazo compd., and conducting coupling with 2R-acid. The ink comprises the compd. of the formula, pref. in an amt. of 1 to 5 wt.% based on the total amt. of the ink.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
