PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the buoyancy of a floating block of concrete. ;SOLUTION: This floating block is obtained by the following procedure: a floating block shell 1 of any bottomed container shape is first made by molding concrete; secondly, the inner hollow 4 of the block shell 1 is packed with a water displacement floating member 6 such as of expanded polystyrene resin helping reduce the specific gravity of the floating block as a whole, and the gap between the floating shell 1 and the floating member 6 is packed with a water intrusion-proofing floating member 7 made of expanded polystyrene resin so as to be characterized in forming a continuous resin film layer 9 on the contact surface with the block shell 1; thirdly, a planting soil layer 14 consisting of fill-up layer or continuous foam plate and capable of rooting plants or the like is fixedly bridged over one or more upper surfaces, and plants including trees (a) are then planted in the layer 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
