PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and an apparatus by which the corrosion probability or the corrosion degree of a reinforcing bar is evaluated by correcting an actually measured spontaneous potential on the basis of the water content, the carbonation depth and the salt content of concrete and computing a corrected spontaneous potential. ;SOLUTION: When the corrosion probability or the corrosion rate of a reinforcing bar is evaluated, an actually measured spontaneous potential is corrected by taking into consideration the water content, the carbonation depth and the salt content of concrete. A correction amount Z is computed approximately by Z=C-A×W+B+t when the water content is designated as W, the factor of the water content as A, the carbonation depth as (t) and the factor of the carbonation depth as B, where A=25-5/3×(measured result in kg/m3 of salt content in non-carbonation part), B=8$04/3×(measured result in kg/m3 of salt content in non-carbonation part) and C=180-30/3×(measured result in kg/m3 of salt content in non-carbonation part). The measured spontaneous potential is corrected by the correction amount Z, and a corrected spontaneous potential is evaluated.
