PURPOSE: To effectively purify contaminated soil by activating bacteria capable of decomposing a contaminant living in soil as a rule. CONSTITUTION: In a method for accelerating the growth of bacteria capable of decomposing a contaminant in soil and decomposing the contaminant by bacteria, a plurality of elements accelerating the growth of bacteria are separated at three or more donating points to be applied to soil and, subsequently, the elements applied to soil are moved by the water streams in an aquifer to be mixed in the aquifer and bacteria are activated at the mixing point to decompose the contaminant in a bacteria activating region.
