PURPOSE:To improve economy and wiring workability of an electric wire eliminating the use of a multiconductor cable by a method wherein a water level display voltage to be obtained with electrode plugs is converted into a digital signal and further into a serial signal to be transmitted. CONSTITUTION:A water level display voltage of a water phase or a gas phase which is obtained with electrode plugs 31-312 of a liquid surface detector 11 is converted into a digital signal with a detection/A/D conversion circuit 11-2 and a parallel/serial conversion circuit 11-3. Furthermore, the digital signal is converted into a serial signal with a time difference sequence cycle, which is inputted into a control display device 12 and a remote display device 13 of serial/parallel conversion circuits 12-1 and 13-1 to be converted into a parallel signal with a time difference sequential cycle. The, based on the parallel signal, a water level display is performed with a dichroic light emitting diode corresponding to electrode plugs 31-312 through a latch relay. When the water level varies, a water-phase display by the dichroic light emitting diode is turned to a gas-phase display by a resetting signal with reset signal circuits 12-2 and 13-2.
