PURPOSE: To perform measurement of the allowable degree of a support of a ground without needing a bored hole by utilizing a relay wave velocity measured on a ground to be measured. ;CONSTITUTION: A relay wave is generated on a ground surface through vibration of an exciter 4, and a relay wave velocity Vr is computed by a computer 1 based on a time in which a wave passes between first and second vibration receivers 5 and 6 and a distance between the vibration receivers 5 and 6. By using the relay wave velocity Vr and a factor (k), an S wave velocity Vs is set to Vr=k.Vs. A monoaxial compression strength qu of a ground is determined according to a formula of Vs=134qu0.443. Viscosity C of a ground below a foundation bottom is determined from a formula of C=qu/2. Further, the allowable degree qa of a support bearing of a ground is determined according to a formula of qa=(α.C.Nc+β.r1.B.Nr)/3, wherein α and β are the shape factor of a foundation, Nc and Nr are a support gearing factor, r1 is a unit volume weight, B is a minimum width of a foundation bottom, and a factor (k) is 0.8-0.9.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
