PURPOSE: To obtain the title polyether having neutral and functional end groups and a low mol. wt. in high yield by catalytically cleaving high mol. wt. (per) fluoropolyether in the presence of a catalyst system of silicon dioxide and specific metal (oxide, etc.) such as Al. ;CONSTITUTION: (Per)fluoropolyether having a high mol. wt.
