PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically treat aromatic-containing polyester materials and fibers in a method which exerts no detrimental effects on the environment. ;SOLUTION: An aromatic-containing polyester is contacted with a microorganism having an aromatic-containing polyester-decomposing activity to be decomposed or reduced in its weight.
