PURPOSE:To enable an operator to turn over pages manually without treating an error as a mechanical error when the error occurs in turning over the pages in automatic turning and at making entry in passbook, and make the operation continued, by a method for recovering from the error in turning over the pages in a passbook issuing machine which writes data in the passbook, makes entry, and issues the passbook. CONSTITUTION:A passbook issuing machine records data in a data storing unit of a drawn out passbook by a read/write unit 15 makes entry by a printer 14, and issues the passbook. When an error in turning over pages of the passbook occurs at a page-turn-over unit 16, a controller 20 writes a specific pattern in the data storing unit of the passbook by the read/write unit 15 and discharge it. The read/write unit 15 reads the contents of the data storing unit of the inserted passbook. When it is detected that the read contents is the specific pattern, the issuing process is continued.
