PURPOSE:To execute the molten metal level control with good precision and to reduce the deviation caused by the disturbances or the like by making a common and appropri ate use of a first molten metal pouring quantity control system in controlling the molten metal surface level in a mold by using the cast slab drawing speed control system. CONSTITUTION:The pouring quantity of the molten steel is controlled by a fourth controller 13 consisting of a first molten steel pouring quantity control system which controls the pouring quantity of the molten steel 4 into a mold 3 according to the deviation from the preset value of the operation factors of a continuous forging machine 2. The molten steel surface level is controlled by making a common use of a second controller 12 consisting of a drawing speed control system which controls the drawing speed according to the deviation from the target value of the detected molten steel surface level. In executing the control by using this drawing speed control system, the common use of the first molten steel pouring quantity control system is made based on the changing tendency of the operation factors including the deviation from the target value of the molten steel surface level. This arrangement executes the molten steel surface level control with good precision, and reduces the deviation from the preset value caused by the disturbance or the like.
