PURPOSE: To obtain a new type II restriction endonuclease capable of recognizing a sequence having 8 nucleotides. ;CONSTITUTION: This substantially pure new type II restriction endonuclease is obtained from Pseudomonas alcaligenes and has a cleavage point indicated by an arrow in a double strand deoxyribonucleic acid molecule of the formula. The enzyme can be obtained by culturing Pseudomonas alcaligenes, NEB535 strain and recovering the enzyme from the cells thereof.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
