PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the extension of a switch with no hit in the case of extending a unit switch module and extending switch capacitance by connecting a slot for switch card and all slots for line through a high-speed line, a connecting line for extension interface and a connecting line for a low-speed line. ;SOLUTION: A unit switch module 100 is composed of N×N ATM switches 200, line adaptor parts 301-30N, interfaces 401-40N for extension to be used for extending the switch capacitance, and a processor 201 for controlling the ATM switches 200, the line adaptor parts 301-30N and the interfaces 401-40N for extension through a control bus 202 and control line groups 203 and 204. By connecting the slot for switch card and all the slots for line through the high-speed line, the connecting line for extension interface and the connecting line for the low-speed line, the line interface card and the interface card for extension can be mounted on any slot.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
