PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain crystalline alkali metal silicate granules having a high bulk density, showing excellent flow properties even after stored under high temperature high humidity conditions and retaining suppressed hygroscopicity and easy solubility by mixing a crystalline alkali metal silicate having specified properties with a specified surfactant and the obtained mixture under specified conditions. ;SOLUTION: A crystalline alkali metal silicate essentially consisting of SiO2 and M2O, having an SiO2/M2O molar ratio of 1.5-2.6, having a maximum pH of above 11.0 when measured in a 0.1wt.% dispersion at 20°C and having an ion exchange capacity of 100CaCO3 mg/g or above is mixed with a nonionic surfactant (e.g. polyoxyethylene dodecyl ether) and an acid precursor (e.g. palmitic acid) of an anionic surfactant capable of taking a lamellar orientation. The obtained mixture is granulated while it is being tumbled with an agitation mixer to obtain granules having a heightened bulk density of 0.6-1.2g/ml.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
