PURPOSE: To obtain a new probe, having the complementation of a DNA region of an mRNA in a heat shock protein located at a specific position on a human chromosome and a transcriptional region to an mRNA and useful for detecting the transcriptional abnormality of mRNA due to a human sustained stress load. ;CONSTITUTION: The new DNA and RNA probe contain nucleic acid sequence Nos. -90 to 810 represented by the formula of a substantial single-stranded nucleic acid sequence capable of selectively hybridizing a DNA region of a messenger RNA (HSP70mRNA) in a heat shock protein of 70kDa located at the 6p21.3-22nd and 14q22-24th and 21st positions on a human chromosome and a transcriptional region to a messenger RNA. The DNA and RNA probe are useful for detection, etc., of the transcriptional abnormality of an intracellular HSP70 mRNA under a sustained stress load containing the human acuteness and chronicity.
