Novel compounds in the form of 5,6-dihydroxyindole polymers, processes for their preparation and compositions containing them

Novel cpds. (I) consist of polymers of 5,6-dihydroxyindole (5,6-DHI) which are substd. by hydrophilic gps. (HG) bonded to the polymer via sulphur. The number of HG's is such that (I) is soluble in aq. and/or aq. alcoholic media, specifically where the medium has pH at most 7 and (I) has solubility 50-100 mg/ml. The claims also cover the prepn. and use of (I), and cosmetic compsns. contg. (I).
