PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make predicable the change of secondary or primary hyperparathyroidism into a server symptom and make selectable a suitable therapeuitc member by predicting the reactivity of parathyroid hormone by means of measuring the polymorphism of parathyroid hormone receptor gene. SOLUTION: The reactivity of parathyroid hormone is predicting by measuring the polymorphism of parathyroid hormone receptor gene by means of treating a DNA fragment, which is obtained by amplifying the first intron part of parathyroid hormone receptor gene by the use of a primer containing the base sequence of formulas I and II, with restriction enzyme Van 9 II. It is favorable to predict the severeness of the condition of secondary or primary hyperparathyroidism in a hemodialysis patient by this method and the reactivity of parathyroid hormone given in the treatment of involutional osteoporosis to improve the therapeutic effect.
