When heating the porous type ion exchange resin to subject it to active carbonization, after the porous type ion exchange resin is fired to carbonize it in oxygen-poor atmosphere, for example, at temperatures of 300-900°C, further, it is subjected to reactivation treatment in reactivation gas consisting of LPG combustion gas or the like, for example, at a temperatures of 850-1100°C.
