PURPOSE: To provide a disk storage unit to be attached outside capable of sufficiently assuring safety at the time of handling the disk storage device of HDD, etc., housed in the protective case, taking the disk storage device out of the protective case by a simple operation and connecting it to a personal computer, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: An HDD 1 is housed in a dual structure protective case 10 having an inside case member 4 and an outside case member 3 and surely fixed by first and second locking mechanism 5 and 6. When the HDD is connected to a data processing device main body, the inside case member 4 is pushed out of the outside case member 3 by a guiding mechanism 3d. The HDD 1 taken out of the inside case member 4 by releasing the first locking mechanism 5 is fixed on the data processing device main body by disk side and main body side locking mechanisms instead of the first locking mechanism 5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
