PURPOSE: To prevent the lowering of the strength of the material in the diffusion reaction treatment by improving the oxidation resistance of a carbon fiber- reinforced carbon composite material by forming a silicon carbide coating layer by the diffusion method which is undely-known. ;CONSTITUTION: The pores of the surface of a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material 1 are filled with thermally decomposed carbon 2, and a silicon carbide coating film 3 is formed by a diffusion method. If necessary, a ceramic coating 4 is formed on the carbon layer 2 by a CVD method and further coated with a glassy substance 5 to not only prevent the lowering of the strength but also further improve the oxidation resistance of the product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
