摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain an optical function glass capable of increasing the efficiency of optical amplification in a 1.3μm wavelength band, and an optical fiber amplifier or the like using said glass. ;CONSTITUTION: As to an optical function glass used in an optical fiber 30, Pr as active material is added to fluorophosphate glass or phosphate glass. As the result, asymmetry of the site of Pr is considered to be increased as compared with the case where fluoride glass is used. Pr is excited by the exciting light of 1.007μm wavelength from a laser light source 32. The excited Pr is induced by a signal light, and generates radiation light in a 1.3μm wavelength band corresponding to transition 1G4→3H5. On account of asymmetry of the site, generation efficiency of the radiation light is improved. When the exciting light exceeds specified intensity, the signal light is effectively amplified.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
