PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the residual magnetism of an MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) system so as to reduce image artifacts. SOLUTION: This MRI system is provided with a gradient compensation system 129 for compensating an imaging gradient waveform for a perturbation due to the residual magnetism. A calibration processing for measuring both of stagnation components and transient components is executed and compensation data are formed and stored. For later utilization by the MRI system, the compensation data can be stored in a lookup table or a polynomial can be fitted to the compensation data.
