PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of distortion at a crossing part of a main bar and a horizontal bar by starting welding from a second low of the main bar and the horizontal bar arranged in mesh respectively, and welding a first low after completion of welding at a given low. SOLUTION: Main bars 2 and a horizontal bar 4 are accommodated in a main bar groove 42 and a horizontal bar groove 43 of a gauge board 38. When the gauge board 38 is moved and stops at a welding part, a tip of a bottom electrode 61 goes into a vertical through hole 44 of the gauge board 38 by the rising of a frame member. Also, when the tip contacts with the main bar groove 42 of the crossing part, the frame member is stopped. Then, when a top electrode 63 descends and its tip contacts with the horizontal bar 4 of the crossing part, the current flows through the top and bottom electrodes 63, 61 so as to weld the crossing part of the main bar 2 and the horizontal bar 4. Welding is started from the second lows of the main bar 2 and the horizontal bar 4 arranged in mesh, and automatic welding of the first low is performed after moving through the third and fourth lows. Therefore, when the main bars 2 and the horizontal bar 4 are nipped between the top and bottom electrodes 63, 61, the distortion of the mesh shape and welding impossibility caused by floating the horizontal bar 4 of an unwelded part, can be avoided.
