PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower at good efficiency carbon monoxide contained in a reformed gas obtained by the steam reforming of a hydrocarbon feedstock. ;SOLUTION: This process comprises the step of converting carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide by reacting carbon monoxide contained in a hydrogen-rich reformed gas with steam with the aid of a catalyst for conversion into carbon dioxide to form carbon dioxide and hydrogen and the step of converting the remaining carbon monoxide into methane by reacting the carbon monoxide remaining in the gas from the former step with the hydrogen containing in the formed gas containing the hydrogen formed in the former step with the aid of a catalyst for conversion into methane.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
