PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot work tool steel and a hot work tool, which are excellent in wear resistance in the temperature region exceeding the A1 transformation point and have long service life.;SOLUTION: This hot work tool steel contains, by weight, 0.4-0.6% C and 7-10% Cr and has 3.0-9.0 wt.% carbide content in the steel at 900°C. The hot work tool is manufactured by using this steel. It is preferable that this steel contains, by weight, 0.5-2% Si, ≤1.5% Mn, 0.5-3% Mo, 0.5-1.5% V, further 0.3-2% Ni, and further 0.005-0.1% Al and that the contents of P, S, and N among impurities are controlled to ≤0.015%, ≤0.005%, and ≤0.015%, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
