PURPOSE: To improve peak separation and the stability in a base line by discharging the component, which does not need to be analyzed, from a capillary column in the opposite direction. ;CONSTITUTION: A makeup flow path 23 is branched from a flow path between an opening and closing valve 4 and a pressure regulating valve 6. In the makeup flow path 23, a flow-path resistor 26a for a small flow rate for makeup and a flow-path resistor 26b a large flow rate, which reverses the flow in a column, are provided in parallel. Either of the flow-path resistor 26a or 26b is selected with a directional control valve 24. A flow-path resistor 22 is provided between the joining point between two flow path resistors 26a and 26b and a main flow path and a detector 12. When sample components are separated and analyzed, the flow-path resistor 26a for the small flow rate is selected.
