PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely control the medium reproducing processing of CD/DVD or the like by the operation of a pointing device provided on a remote control unit. ;SOLUTION: A first mode for mouse pointer operation and a second mode for medium reproducing control are provided as operation modes of a control stick on a remote control unit 115; and in the second mode, the operation of the pointing device on the remote control unit 115 is converted to a code for medium reproducing control by a remote control driver 117 and is transferred to DVD-VIDEO reproducing software (DVD player sofware) 119. Since the operation mode of the control stick is switched to the second mode to use it in this manner, an operator can realize various reproducing controls with his or her finger on the control stick on the remote control unit 115.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
