PURPOSE: To obtain a fuel tank installation structure for a portable operation machine from which a fuel tank can easily be taken out. ;CONSTITUTION: An engagement claw 15 is formed on one end of a belt 14 which fixes a fuel tank 13 to a fuel tank housing chamber 12, while a bolt 16 is arranged on the other side. The engagement claw 15 of the belt 14 is engaged with an engagement portion 17 formed on a bottom of the fuel tank housing chamber 12 on the side opposite to an engine room. The belt 14 is wound around an upper side of the fuel tank 13. An end of the belt 14 on the side of the bolt 16 is penetrated into an engine room side wall surface 18 of the fuel tank housing chamber 12.
