PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melting method in which no molten salt layer is generated even when burnt residues including salts are melted, and a melting furnace to implement the method.;SOLUTION: In a melting furnace, the total of the Na content and the K content in a molten slag is below 1.5 wt.% by providing a heater 14 on an upper part in the furnace to heat a vapor phase part, or providing a gas blow-in pipe to blow a non-oxidizing gas and promote vaporization of potassium chloride. In addition, content adjusting material containing Ca or Si is charged so that the ratio Ca/Si of the Ca content to the Si content in the molten slag is 0.7 to 2.5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
