APPARATUS FOR MEASURING FLEXURAL DISTORTION OF DUMMY CHEST, APPARATUS USING THE SAME FOR ESTIMATING CHEST INJURY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a time history of a flexural distortion of each point of a chest as a change with time of the flexural distortion and estimate a rib fracture, injuries to internal organs and the like of the chest.;SOLUTION: The apparatus for measuring a flexural distortion of a dummy chest consists of a band 2 having one end fixed to a dummy thoracic vertebra part 13 or its vicinity and a measuring device 4. The band 2 is comprised of a plurality of elastic thin plate members 20 arranged along an inner periphery of a dummy rib member 11 fixed to the thoracic vertebra part 13. A plurality of gages 13 are set to the band via a distance in a longitudinal direction for detecting the flexural distortion of the elastic thin plate members 20 when an obstacle collides with the dummy chest. The measuring device 4 measures a time history of the flexural distortion as a change with time of a flexural distortion at each point of the band 2 on the basis of the flexural distortion at each point of the band 2 which is detected by the gages 3 set to the band 2.
