PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation process of a polyoxyalkylene sulfoxide which has an excellent compatibility with various polymers and, for example, can improve various properties of polymers by adding and blending with the polymers compared with the case of the non-blended polymers and also to produce a polymer alloy whose various properties are modified by the polyoxyalkylene sulfoxide. ;SOLUTION: Polyoxyalkylene sulfoxide has the structure unit shown by the formula. The polyoxyalkylene sulfoxide is obtained by adding polyethylene sulfide to a mixture of nitric acid and methane sulfonic acid and stirring sufficiently.
