PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously and accurately measure a fall sample by traveling a traveling stage along a fall pipe in sync with the fall sample falling within the fall pipe. ;SOLUTION: A hollow fall pipe 12 has at least one transparent side face 12a formed in a flat plane. A traveling stage 14 guided with guide rails 18a and guide wheels 18b of a guide device 18 along the fall pipe 12 falls along the transparent side face 12a at a free fall speed. A measuring device 16 attached to the traveling stage 14 detects radiant heat from a fall sample 3 through the transparent side face 12a to measure a temperature, and simultaneously obtains an image. An acceleration device 20 reduces a traveling resistance of the guide device 18 and the like to accelerate the traveling stage 14 downward in sync with the fall sample 3. At that time, a speed controller 22 inputted with image data controls the acceleration device 20 according to a position of the fall sample 3 in the image such that a relative position between the measuring device 16 and the fall sample 3 does not change. Thus, by traveling the traveling stage 14 along the fall pipe 12 in sync with the fall sample 3, the measuring device 16 can continuously measure the fall sample 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
